Marlowe and the Marionette Character Bios

Marlowe

Marlowe is the protagonist of Marlowe and the Marionette. She works for The Puppeteer after accidentally scattering his basket of magic thread all over the world. She's confident, brave and adventurous; but, sometimes reckless and often dives into situations without a plan.
She is collecting the magic spools of thread for The Puppeteer so she can get back home.

Fun Fact: Marlowe's favorite animal is a bat, she made the wings on her raincoat herself!

The Puppeteer

The Puppeteer lives in a magic void called Nowhere, it has portals that lead to many different places and he can open and close these doorways at will. He is called The Puppeteer because he uses magic to turn people into marionette puppets, no one knows exactly why he does this and the few that know of his existence have never dared to ask.

Fun Fact: The Puppeteer is actually trapped in Nowhere, it acts as a magic prison that he can't leave, but anyone else who finds an enterance can come and go as they please.

Patch

Patch is a merchant who specializes in enchanted trinkets, knicknacks, and thingamajigs. they've been all over the world and even other dimensions; but, wherever you go you can be sure to find Patch's shop somewhere in the area. the only currency they accept is buttons, luckily buttons can be found almost everywhere.

Fun Fact: Patch is really a void creature that hangs out on this plane of existence for fun, they just kinda showed up one day and never left.

Sylvester

Sylvester is the boss of the shadow puppet mobsters. He runs a town similar to 1920's chicago full of shadow puppets, most of which are part of his gangsters. Sylvie is very interested in the thread, especially when he learns that you're collecting it for the puppeteer. he'll give the thread back to you, but you'll have to do stuff for him first.

Fun Fact: since he's a shadow, Sylvie is 2d and can only go on flat surfaces, same with the other shadow puppets.

Shifty

Shifty's their name, and mischief is their game! Shifty is a shady shapeshifter with a penchant for stealing items and messing with people. they've probably got a least one of the spools in their hoard right?

Fun Fact: Shifty isn't actually their real name, they came up with on the fly when Marlowe asked, so everyone just calls them that now

Fidget

Fidget is a performer who was in an band with a bunch of other performers, that is, until they ditched him right before a competition in Theatre City. He loves to wear all kinds of costumes and has a surprizingly strong punch! Maybe he'll help you get through some old walls, if you ask him nicely.

Fun Fact: Fidget joins Marlowe on her journey as a helper and self-proclaimed tour guide to Theatre City and the rest of the puppet world!

Elodie

Miss Elodie is the mayor of Theatre City, a massive city full of theatres and venues where anyone can perform their heart out and start their path to stardom! Elodie is kindhearted and loves to see the residents of her city succeed, many people come to Theatre City looking for a fresh start for this reason.

Fun Fact: Elodie Hosts Theatre City's largest event; an anual talent show that people from all over come to see! The winners get 1,000 buttons in prize money and a special prize that changes every year, this year the prize is some of the very spools of thread that Marlowe is collecting...
